The Edgecombe Group, Inc. served as the Landscape Architects for the Wiley H. Bates Memorial. This Memorial is a spiritual as well as a sacred landscape that tells the story of a larger picture during the time of segregation in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It is a contemplative space intended to stimulate people who visit not only to reflect upon their history and the struggles of past generations, but also to represent a people's commitment to excellence, to striving, and to overcoming.
